My wife and I are looking for a great destination for this spring. We are getting ready to try and have a new baby and want to take a trip just the two of us before the baby and would like recommendations. Location and or hotels would be fabulous. Were looking for great beaches, restaurants, snorkeling, and relaxation. Last April we spent a week in Maui and had a great time!!!!! Were looking for something that is a shorter flight this time around from Michigan.
Thanks for the help.
We loved Scrub Island Resort in the BVI but some others didn't find it to their liking. Resort was great, rented a boat for a day and enjoyed the water as well as other islands.
I hear Grand Cayman has excellet diving/snorkling, never been but are going mid April.
The west coast of Florida, Marco Island Marriott is great, nice beach and even still in the country.
Just a few off the top of my head at this point.
i have vacationed on Grand Cayman twice at the Grand Cayman Marriott on SMB. Great spot. I suggest going out online at the many, many local spots further up the road. I didn't really care for the Wharf restaurant as it was very windy, too touristy and food was overlooked and expensive. Avoid the port due to the crowds of tourists from the cruise ships though...it's a mad house! Camana Bay complex is a short walk across the min road, land side, and that is great complex to explore ...check when they have outdoor entertainment. Also, I've visited the turtle farm, only because I had my daughter with me who was 4 at the time...it was ok. The boat trip to sting ray city was enjoyable and the experience is fun. People are really nice and the island is generally very clean. a friend stayed at the Renaissance before and she loved it, too. The staff at the Marriot are great and I'm looking forward to returning next year.
I don't know what your budget is I highly recommend the Marriott Frenchman's Reef. It's in St. Thomas which is one of the places in the world that I LOVE!! Check it out:
Just to update we were limited on choices since we booked this trip at the last minute over Easter break, but we had a great time. We went to Aruba and stayed at the Surf Club. The resort was nice, and Aruba seems to have a lot to offer just about anyone. Nice beaches, good resteraunts my only complaint is that the snorkeling is pretty sub-par. They really don't have any actualy reefs you can snorkel. You can find some fish and if you haven't been anywhere else they will be nice but there are alot cooler places to snorkle.
