New to Elite status

We are new to Marriott rewards this year. We began accumulating nights in May 2012 and  obtained silver elite status in July of 2012 we had a total of 15 nights at the end of 2012. Will we retain the silver status for 2013 or do we start back over at 0?

I'm sorry, this is probably a very silly question but I'm still learning. Thank you

(For each location tag, you will be guided through a 3-step process to add (1) a city and a state or a city and a country, (2) a Marriott brand, and (3) a Marriott hotel.)

    hello mydeere5!

welcome to MR and MRI!  You should retain your Silver Status until 2014, however, your points balance will be reset to 0, so to remain a silver in 2014, you'll need to stay the required number of nights again.

Better yet, if you're in the US, apply for the Chase Marriott Rewards Premier card.  It's the one with an $85 annual fee.  It gives you 15 Elite Qualifying nights per year, and thus automatic Silver Elite status for as long as you keep the card open.  They'll also give you a category 1-4 certificate upon opening and a category 1-5 certificate when you renew your card.  You also get an additional Elite Qualifying Night for every $3,000 you spend.

      kharada46,

One small correction, the points balance would not reset to 0 but the number of nights would.

Very good advice on the Marriott Rewards Visa!

        Thanks for the correction vaboywnder!
