    jamesdean,

you are eligible for an upgrade for stays on points as a Plat, though, as with paid stays, upgrades are based upon availability at the time of check-in.

      That's an excellent point californian!

jamesdean, as you will see on other threads, there are major consistency issues with Marriott policies and individual hotels.  This is especially true when it comes to honoring Elite benefits.

This is the frustrating thing that we deal with.  It seems to be up to the hotel.  It would be nice if we could put together a nice organized section of this site to allow MIs to report on treatment from individual hotels.

You are welcome.  Good luck with getting the benefits that you earned.

    Hey James

    Also keep in mind that:

1- Each hotel has a different configuration and different location ---- which means that depending on projected occupancy, the room you get may be the "best" available at the time the hotel does is room blocking (room assignments) for the day, and

2- "Upgrade" does not necessarily mean a suite.  You may be upgraded to a better view, better floor (such as the Concierge floor if the hotel has one), or to a room with more amenities etc.
