Looks like Ritz-Carlton is entering the Honolulu market! I wish it were a standard hotel property rather than a condo hotel...
Looks like the permitting process for this project won't be a smooth one... Residents living in condos behind the planned Ritz-Carlton Waikiki aren't happy with the design of the building and it's supposed impact on view lines.
This is true, but many people that live in Waikiki that are doing the complaining probably bought in the area for a view. This is why projects in Hawaii are always such a problem. I can see a hotel arguing about view planes, as it will impact their ability to make money, but if a homeowner wanted to ensure they'd always have a beach view, they should have purchased a property that could guarantee a beach view.
Here's the official website for the Ritz-Carlton Residence Waikiki!
The news is now reporting that Dean & Deluca will be on-site, as well as high-end sushi restaurant from a renown chef. Who that could be I have no idea since we already have a Nobu's, a Morimoto, and Sansei.
