This Category 3 hotel is located 2 miles from the New Orleans Airport. We stayed here for 1 night prior to departing for our New England trip. We received the BEST platinum greeting thanking us for our loyalty to Marriott of any of the 8 Marriott properties we stayed in on the trip. We were informed that we had been upgraded to a king suite. They asked if we needed a wake-up call or wanted to schedule a time to catch the shuttle to the airport. They made sure we knew the breakfast hours, but we have never had breakfast at this hotel because we always have to catch an early flight. Warm cookies were available for the guests. We had picked up dinner at the seafood restaurant (Harbor Seafood) located about a block from the hotel before checking in, so we saved the cookies for dessert. We slept well on a very comfortable bed. We were the only guests on the 5:30 AM 10-minute shuttle to the airport. Our rate included 10 nights of free parking, so when we returned to New Orleans all we had to do was call the hotel and the shuttle was dispatched. This is our hotel of choice when we have an early morning flight from New Orleans.
This Fairfield is where we stop two or three times a year when we drive to visit family in Mississippi. Very well run, caring staff and surprisingly quiet especially since it's under a flight path. It's easy to see why Harbor Seafood, albeit very casual, is a local favorite. Their gumbo, crawfish etoufee, and seafood equals many places in New Orleans at 70% of the price. I also like that they serve alligator blackened, as opposed to most other places that only fry it, you can actually distinguish the taste. Also just down the street, a very easy, casual walk, they have a Cafe duMonde at the Esplanade Mall (certainly not the same ambiance or people watching potential, but great for picking up beignets for friends). I agree, the Kenner Fairfield is a good way to start a trip.
