Visited Polpo Covent Garden today http://polpo.co.uk/. In the other post on London dining you had asked about Polpo in Soho.
It is a good small plates Italian restaurant.
They take reservations for lunch but not dinner time.
It opens from Noon right the way through to 11.30pm (10.30pm on Sunday).
All of the plates were good, but I especially liked the meatballs.
It has a nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and is a good choice to pop into whilst you are sightseeing around the Covent Garden area.
Visited another good inexpensive restaurant at lunch today: Soho Joe http://www.sohojoe.net/
Pizza's were good and at £7 well priced for central London.
We also had pita bread, olives & bread, I wouldn't bother with that next time though.
The burgers and chips also looked nice and priced at the £7 mark also.
The restaurant is CASH only and you go the counter to pay for your order.
This is a decent option if you are out sightseeing and wish to pop into a place quickly for good food at a reasonable price.
Could you help me with the name of a famous "Fish and Chip place that is located in Gatwick, and Cardiff, Wales, as well as other places. I have not pictures of it but it was very good and the name was that of a male person. I just cannot remember the name, but I think it was very good, and well known in GB?
I can now "Sleep at night"!
Harry's it is! I just could not think of that place, and now I know it!
The Concierge and various Taxi Drivers have told me the best place to go in London for fish and chips in a place in "Lisson Grove", but I have not made it to that place to dine yet!
It is a wonderful place to dine, especially if you are going to the theatre!
I really enjoy their "Goose", and the place is rather Hungarian, and relaxing. I think their is a menu with prices in front! I will have to try the whisky shop next time!
By the way, don't forget to try and join a few of us at County Hall for a MRI "Refreshment" next May!
no never been in, but I walk past it on my way to/back from work everyday. Looks interesting. I'll def make the effort to pop in after work one night - prob better than at lunchtime
Refreshments sounds like a great idea + County hall in v.nice. Good place to stay on points or if work are feeling generous, but pricey if spending your own £s.
It is a cozy "Wine bar", and comfortable, but not pricey.
If you go, don't make the mistake I made, and I have been back a few times since. The first time, I was sent there by a lady I met in Sancerre, France, Lynn Ball. She said to say hello to "Francios", I did and the guy really "Blew up at me", I think Lynn must have been a former "Girlfriend" or something like that! He must have thought I was something more than just a "Friend", of Lynn's. It was hilarious to see this Frenchman go "Ballistic" over a simple hello!
Here is a picture of Lynn's Business in Sancerre, France.
You are close to St. Martins Theatre, where I really enjoyed seeing "The Mousetrap"! What fun!
Have a "Glass for me"! Please keep all of us "Smiling" at your great posts!
