I work in the Mid-West of the US, doing programs like "Antique Road Show", and I really enjoy the area.
Burlington, Iowa is just one of many enjoyable places, and yes, they have a popular casino, ( I have dined, but not gambled, and I have nothing against gambling, I just don't do it).
Iowa, is a most enjoyable place and I just wish I could visit more.
It's kind of interesting about the border casinos, most of which are on the border rivers...on the west side you'll find the majority of license plates in the parking lots of the three Council Bluffs casinos from Nebraska's three largest counties. The Sioux City casino and others in northwest Iowa get a lot of South Dakota traffic. And on the Mississippi River side, most of the traffic is from Illinois. Bob Feller was from Van Meter, Iowa (not too far from Winterset where John Wayne was born) and there's a museum in Van Meter about his baseball career. Pretty interesting for baseball fans. Us midwesterners are pretty easy to please.
