We will be spending six nights in Amsterdam in April, staying at the Rennaisance and using that as a base for day trips by train. We then plan to spend six nights at the Marriott in Ghent, again using that as a base for day trips by train. I know there have been a lot of posts about these areas and I appreciate all the great information. My question is about the final night before we fly home out of Amsterdam to Seattle. Our flight leaves at about 10:45a.m. Would it make sense for us to go directly from Ghent to the airport that morning or should we plan to spend the night before back in Amsterdam? We've never traveled to this area before.
Personally I would stay the night before in Amsterdam area. Your flight is in the morning therefore you would have to be up very early leaving from Ghent.
jerrycoin has been singing the praises of the Amsterdam Courtyard, therefore I would think that would be a good option to stay that night.
That way you can have the full day in the Ghent area get the train to Amsterdam in the evening and have more of a sleep in the morning.
