I am headed on a Southern Caribbean cruise in December and want to stay in San Juan the night before. Has anyone stayed at either San Juan Marriott and Resort, Stellaris Casino or the Renaissance? They are fairly close to each other and close to the cruise ship pier. We fly in on my husband's 60th birthday so I want to make it a little special for him. The Marriott has a steak house but the Renaissance has a seafood restaurant that looks very inviting and great view. My son has stayed at the Marriott and really enjoyed it but I know nothing of the Renaissance. I would like to know which I would have a better chance of Platinum upgrade to best view room. I have only stayed at one other Renaissance and it was a very nice hotel but wasn't sure if Platinum members were treated same as Marriotts. Anyone have any thoughts?
BTW pained and razor, I did use the Cruises Only site to book the cruise. It is a lot of points to use for money off, but I did not have enough flight miles for free flights so it was going to cost more than I wanted to pay at the end of the year. I will let you know how well it works out but so far everything has been easy to maneuver in booking and looking into excursions.

Can anyone recommend a relaxing location to spend a long weekend for our upcoming 10th anniversary? We'll be traveling from Boston in late September/early October. We love the Carribean but I worry about hurricane season that time of year.
