Which Marriott Brand & Location did not honor an anticipated Marriott Reward Benefit for you? Please try to be specific about the benefit, what happened, and when. Below is a list of Marriott Brand Franchise information. We are trying to see if there is a pattern between no receiving benefits and particular brands and/or locations. If nothing else, we will know what to expect at which properties when booking.
Mr. Marriott began shifting the company in the late 1970s from hotel ownership to property management and franchising. His strategic decision allowed the company to accelerate its growth and broaden its leadership position. Marriott International offers franchising programs that permit the use of many of their lodging brand names and systems by other hotel owners and operators. Under these programs, Marriott International generally receives an initial application fee and continuing royalty fees, which typically range from four percent to six percent of room revenues for all brands, plus two percent to three percent of food and beverage revenues for certain full-service hotels. In addition, franchisees contribute to the national marketing and advertising programs and pay fees for use of Marriott International’s centralized reservation systems.
Only 1 time for me. The Renaissance Blackstone in Chicago. This was ~ 5 years ago, between Christmas and New Years, and I was "Gold" status at the time. My stay was midweek, but the concierge lounge was not open. So, per rules, I should have received breakfast. They informed me that only Platinums get breakfast (rules say Gold get them too) at the on-site Starbucks. After I pointed out the rule, they reluctantly gave me Starbucks certificates good for 1 pastry and 1 drink. But, come the next morning, the Starbucks was closed! I then asked to speak to a manager, and asked for breakfast in their regular restaurant. They refused! I then called MR customer service on my phone, and had them speak to the manager directly. Even after MR customer service told them of the promised benefit, they still refused! The manager would only offer free coffee in their restaurant. But, then told me "don't worry, we'll take care of you with some extra points!" I think I received maybe 500 after the fact. Also, after this stay I was still about 10 nights short of Platinum status, but I was upgraded to Platinum shortly after this stay. This may have been in response to my issue. In the grand scheme of things, this was not a big deal, but I thought I'd bring it up. Other than that, we were upgraded to a great room, and the hotel is beautiful, and in a great location!
I have actually had the front desk ask me to call Platinum Service when our versions of the benefits differ.
Then Platinum Service has called the Front Desk.
I was a little surprised that the front desk would not check and wanted me to, but it worked, and quickly as I was still standing there when Platinum Services called, the Front Desk than acknowledged, and after hanging up, they apologized.
