Husband and I area taking a short cruise from Miami to the Bahamas at the end of June. Will be in Miami for 2 days. Looking for hotel recommendations. Ritz South Beach looks great, but is it really worth 120K for 2 nights? Currently have reservation at JW Marquis, but think we'd rather stay somewhere in South Beach. Also any restaurant recommendations would also be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
We stayed at the Marriott Biscayne Bay a couple of weeks ago. The review is here:
We like to eat at Joe's Stone Crab at the bottom of South Beach on Washington St. They don't take reservations and it fills up quickly and a line forms but this is not their busy time of year so it might be no wait....
Enjoy the trip!
I stayed at Marriott Eden Roc after one of my crusies and loved it. While I didn' think of it as being South Beach, it is on the beach, and while walking along the beach I found myself in South Beach very quickly. I remember thinking, if I ever want to go to South Beach, this is a great property cause its not right in south beach so no one would think of using it for that.
The property itself is absolutely beautiful. Great public rooms, spa, and outdoor area overlooking the beach. Their is a nice restaurant poolside, and if I remember correctly pool side spa services as well.
I would not hestitate to return.
Have also stayed at the Marriott Key Biscayne before and after cruises, and it is a very comfortable hotel. My rooms have always had great views and wonderful balconies. There is a shopping mall that is walking distance, and I did take a cab to south beach.

Eden Roc really rocks! I stay there a lot and always get upgrades to suites. The spa is wonderful- and the pools and cabanas are perfect for a relaxing day. i love the Boardwalk in the AM. THe 1500 restaurant is incredible- eat at the1500 bar and you will likely get a free beverage/desert and ask for the locals discount.
the staff is the attentive, go out of their way to please. Its a resort so no CL or free breakfast but rooms have a frig and so i get fruit, etc at store and grab a starbucks and sit on my balcony watching the sunrise. 41st street short walk away to several good places for breakfast
if you get a car park next door at the city lot- $1/hr 8am to 6 pm.
if you want a downtown South Beach loc. try the Winter Haven- Autograph collection. smaller rooms but great location. great staff. Or check out S Beach Marriott. it has a CL.
i still think Eden Roc is the BEST.
i like to people watch the club crowd next door at Fountainblu after 11pm. just hang out in the lobby- you will be very entertained.
Love Edon Roc as well!
Awhile back there were MI posts about Edon Roc leaving the Marriott umbrella, and it disappeared from the directory of properties.
Just yesterday, I looked it up, and it was back.
so does that mean, its officially a Marriott again.
Anyone hear anything about this?
ever since the renovations in 2008 they have always been a Renaissance Hotel- i stay there a lot, almost every month. I have never seem an occasion when they were not on the reservation system. if they don't show up it is because they are sold out. which happens sometimes especially in spring and winter months and Holidays.
