Maybe it's been discussed before on MI, but lack of interest probably kept me from reading and learning more. But tonight, I signed up for facebook, just to look and see what the rage was. So far, not sure about that rage, but I will say that there was a lot more chatter on the marriott facebook pages than there is on Insiders. And it appeared that the facebook posts were getting more feedback from marriott moderators also. Maybe that's a better way to get the attention of, and feedback from, Marriott staff.
That was the sense I got when I first discovered it when Facebookers were pounding Michellel over T&C wording. I can see why Marriott would be assertively and promptly responsive to that broad based audience, if complaints were allowed to fester in that forum, a potential customer uprising (and the coinciding negative impressions) could multiply. After months of observation, I view Insiders as a valuable way to enhance our travel experiences and maximize our trip value through the ideas of other road warriors (and the ongoing terrific postings by the very thoughtful stewards and contributors like yourself) rather than altering Marriott policy, which it does appear Facebook might. And similarly, I'll only share deals on this forum (like the current Montreal Marriott's early bird booking in July or which Marriott's offer weekend breakfasts) out of fear that the mass market would swamp the concept and we, the Insiders, would lose out.
