I came to realize this week that you don't get free breakfast as your elite status when I stayed at Courtyard Bellevue, WA. I called Customer Service reps to confirm and he said only if there is Executive lounge, then you will get free access and it serves breakfast and evening snacks. However it doesn't match what Marriott platinum elite benefits guarantee states online. I am enclosing a snapshot and following URL of the same for reference. As per the site, we should be eligible for compensation
I really like the Courtyard brand and got into the habit of staying at many of them due to the fact that they offered free internet when the full service Marriott's were charging $12.95 a day. Now that Gold and Platnium members get free internet at full service Marriott hotels there is less incentive for Elite members to stay there. Perhaps Marriott should consider an Elite breakfast perk for its Gold and Platinum Members as an incentive to stay at Courtyards. Most of the Courtyards have eliminated the breakfast buffets in place of the Bistro. Perhaps they should offer a certificate good for a free breakfast entree at the Bistro to it's Elite members at Check-In.
It's never going to happen. CYs haven't offered breakfast. Elites complain. Marriott doesn't care. Supposedly CY brand has a high % of occupancy so they don't see a need to change. NONE of the elites understand CYs business model, and a lot are switching over to SHS instead.
I have found that about 1 out of 3 Courtyards will provide breakfast for Platinum Premiers IF you ask. However, if it's a franchise property, you can absolutely fugetaboutit! I do find it quite odd that they are the ONLY class of Marriotts (resorts excepting, but that at least is quite understandable) that Platinum members are not guaranteed breakfast. (Yes, the lower end properties, e.g. Fairfield, Springfield, Residence, etc. do so for all.) For a chain that caters to business travelers one would think they would treat their road warriors better.
I don't think that I have ever stayed at a Courtyard. But, I do know that I avoid them like the plague because I don't get a free breakfast. That free breakfast is very important to me.
It is a huge benefit.
I really enjoy coming down before getting dressed for the day and enjoying a leisurely breakfast before everyone gets to the starving point and cranky. Plus, time has to be wasted finding another place to eat.
I totally forgot about the annoying no benefits at courtyards and booked a stay at the Courtyard in Melbourne Florida this weekend. No coffee, no water, no breakfast... well of course they have it if you pay for it. The Courtyard in Morrisville NJ (where my client has me staying when I'm at that site), give 1 free breakfast, water, 1 free starbucks coffee to their elite members per stay.. of course if I ask for another coffee coupon, they usually give it to me.
BTW, I'm not the kind of person who will use the coffee maker in my room, so I don't consider that "free coffee".
I absolutely do not stay at Courtyards unless forced to or had a lapse in memory like this weekend's stay.

That is most likely not related to elite status. I think your client has that included in their negotiated rate with the hotel. Mine always did in Somerset, NJ.
I totally agree with you on that . The thing is we had our legal department read those terms and conditions and we are not crazy it does not break it down enough that would make the courtyard exempt from not offering fold and plaitinium free breakfast. there is a lot of loop whole there I have tried personally tried to explain that to rewards and it just goes in circles
