I have been trying to book a room in El Centro, CA, for 4/23, but neither the website nor the reservations phone line can help me. Platinum reservations told me the hotel is completely booked and blocked from Platinum exceptions. Has anyone ever seen this? Is there a way around this? Thanks.
yes, I have seen this on occasion myself. Usually, this means there is a special event taking place at or near the hotel that caused the hotel to completely fill up. Somewhere in the fine print regarding the Platinum 48 hour guarantee, you will find the line that specifies "except on special occasions". What I would suggest is that you find an alternative property and book your stay. Then, when you get closer to check in day, call the hotel directly to see if a room opened up. Oftentimes, a room will indeed become available at the last minute.
good luck and safe travels
I've only tried to use the 48 hour guarantee once. A few years ago I wanted a room at the Omaha Marriott only to be told that Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting had the whole thing booked, but that I could still override for a special event rate of $399. Normally I would stay at a government rate of $101. I just said no thanks and stayed across the river in Council Bluffs. It worked out ok for me.
Please note which properties have not honored the 48 hr Platinum Guarantee and the explanation provided, and add the location tags.
