Great room

If you are upgraded or just have the money to spend, ask for room 604 at the Seattle Marriott downtown on Alaskan Way. It is a corner junior suite, lots of room, walkout balconies, and looks straight at the marina. Fabulous room!

Along the same lines, room 1713 in Vancouver Airport Marriott in Richmond BC is also great room.  One bedroom suite with a private balcony.  A view to the west of Richmond looking North toward the airport (I like watching planes) and the mountains behind Vancouver.  On a clear day it is stunning.

I have attached a photo looking west.  You can see some of the building that is going on to prepare for the Olympics. On a clear day, this is the sunset view and it is great.

When staying at Le Merigot in Santa Monica, Ca., you might want to ask for room 503.  This room is noa suite, but is large, has a great balcony (also large) and what appears to be the best view in the hotel.  From the balcony you are a couple of hundred feet from the Santa Monica Pier, with a view of the beach that stretches all the way around past Malibu.

It looks like other rooms' view would be blocked by a building between the hotel and the beach, but it is insignificant from this room.

We like 704 as well and 747 on the southern end of the hotel is almost as good.  Each time we visit Seattle we call ahead and ask for 704 from the Front Desk Manager, each time we have been fortunate enough to get it.  Splendid balcony as pencilpusher mentioned, perfect for watching the sun set over Elliott Bay and the Olympics as  you enjoy a nice bottle of Washington wine.
