Casamagna Puerta Vallarta - Plat. Benefits

My wife and I are going to the CasaMagna in Puerta Vallarta this weekend. Does anyone know what benefits are offered to Platinum guests? Two to three years ago we stayed at the CasaMagna Cancun and received free breakfast, resort credit, free daily coffee in the gift shop and a room upgrade. Would the benefits be similar? , puert

    IS this question outdated already?

i Was there a month ago and as a gold member I got nothing! they don't even have a lounge because it is a resort.

I am curious - did you get anything?

      As a platinum I received:

Top floor ocean view room, welcome gift and late check out. The property is a resort so they do not have a lounge and do not offer breakfast for elites.

Very nice property and very friendly staff!

Maye I should give it another chance then. If y'all had to go to Mexico - which part would you go to, and which resort?

I have only been to Cancun and Puerta Vallarta.

Puerta Vallarta was very beautiful, quiet, and made you feel like you were in Mexico. The Marina with the small shops, restaurants and boats was nice. The town was a 15 minute cab ride to get to the boardwalk next to the ocean. You can stroll all the way down to the old town. It wasn't loud and we completely felt safe the whole time.

Cancun has the downtown area/hotel zone which has nice white sand beaches but is much louder with a lot of loud music blaring and a rowdier crowd in my opinion. You can drive a bit further away to Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen where it is much quieter, beautiful resorts, and good people.

I definitly want to go back to Puerta Vallarta and would do Cancun again. If you are in the states a Mexico trip is very easy and not to expensive. A long weekend is all you need unless you like to be in one spot for much longer.

Having been to both the Puerto Vallarta Hotels | CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta and brand spanking new Cabo Resorts - Hotels | JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa in the last 50 days it would depend on a number of factors for what you're seeking in a resort.

The CasaMagna is an older resort built in 1990 yet with wonderful rooms, beautiful resort and much to do as far as dining, bars and shopping in Marina Vallarta which is a five minute walk.  There are three restaurants located in the resort and it is a classy Mexican resort on the west coast, very very safe.

The JW is a gorgeous uniquely designed resort and property with something like 13 pools, three restaurants and an incredible wide beach to enjoy.  The rooms are spacious and very comfortable all rooms with ocean views.  They have a private area that is like a boutique hotel within in the resort called Griffin Club which for an up-charge is incredible.  The resort is about 25 minutes from the airport and mostly secluded from restaurants, bars and shopping.  A 10 minute taxi ride to San Jose' Del Cabo a very quaint small fun town if you wish to dine off site is a must.  Cabo San Lucas which is the larger touristy destination with clubs and a more energetic area is 50 minutes from the resort.  Again, a very very safe area on the Baja California, Mexico west coast.

This will give you an idea of the JW:  Re: JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa Review, Part 4 The Last Night and Summary

Check out the reviews and photo's on TripAdvisor.  We loved both the resorts for their different feel and look forward to returning as soon as possible.

Sorry I got to this posting a little late.  I don't know if you got a chance to meet the Chief Concierge, Simon, but he does great things on making your stay memorable. You will get treated better and better each time you return. We've been there for 7 years in a row, and are truly welcomed and treated like family. We even went through hurricane Patricia on our last stay. Quite a great adventure. Private message me if you go again, and I will give you Simon's direct email and information. He is wonderful to work with!

any info about current conditions in PVR?  Heading back again in early March w/  kids and grandkids to the Marriott and wonder if it as wonderful and welcoming as it was last winter---would expect so....but based on current political climate I would rely on this group for any heads-up!

Rooms 5024-5036 and 7024-7036.  Looking out over the pool and city and nice ocean views as well. Best rooms there, barring the high end suites that go to things like Ambassadors and people getting married, etc.

CasaMagna Cancun has always been on my radar.  It's interesting that you mention the free breakfast.  I wish some places would be more clear what members get with different levels.  Had I known, it might have been more persuaded to stay there, simply because I know the location and it's not easy to get breakfast around there that's not at a resort hotel. Now if it's free, that really improves the value of the stay then.  I'm often pleasantly surprised when I get nice free amenities for my status; however, I think I'd like more to clearly know what is or isn't included. Maybe next year I'll be back in Cancun.

The $50 resort credit offset the breakfast buffet for 2 people. Very good buffet with a lot of assortment. My favorite was that they had watermelon juice and papaya.

I will concur with all the positives listed in this thread.  Simon, the cab ride upon arrival, dinner reccomendations, the marina, safety, cleanliness,  very affordable in all respects----we  were upgraded to ocean view 4th floor, had wine, cheese and fruit delivered to our room on the house-----thanks to all who take the time to add to our information.  Our first time but certainly not our last!  clark3

Yes, 7 trips in 7 years and still hooked. We always try to mention Simon in Trip Advisor, when I found employees can get points toward their yearly competition for most customer satisfaction comments (they compete hard for this, because they can win a nice 3-day stay award), by mentioning them on Trip Advisor. It always helps to help the people who go out of their way to make your stay extra nice. They remember you too. Simon has done tons for us, even rushing me to a hospital personally one year and staying to make sure I was well taken care of.

Nice to hear clark3.  Sounds like you'll have a great family event there.  Those rooms are about a 2-level upgrade from the cheapest Garden Corner rooms.  And if they did like the last few years, they mention that room upgrades are part of their platinum appreciation in the welcome card too.  SImon is great at taking care of everyone.  We are going for our 9th trip in Dec 10-22 of this coming winter.  Just saw great new low rates popped up for $102 per night ($99 on weekend nights) with a $50 resort credit everyday.  And in December no less!!

Wonderful.  Don't forget about getting with the ladies at the concierge desk and asking them about ordering a delivery from Tacon de Marlin from out by the airport.  I usually tell the lady to order one extra for herself as a tip, and they will love you for it.  The airline pilots always get an order here first on their layovers, so that tells you a lot.  Things like shrimp, crab, sea bass, and smoked marlin burritos.  They are pure heaven!  The ladies will let you know when they have arrived, or have them sent to wherever you are setting at (by the pool, or whatever).

My family and I have vacationed at the CasaMagna for the past 14 years during the February school vacation weeks. We had 17 people come along this year and we totally enjoyed the 10 days. Simon is absolutely the best! He blocked off three guest rooms, three Junior suites and a Luxury suite in the Aztec tower all on the top floor. He asked us nine days before our arrival if we would mind moving out of the luxury suite for the last two nights to accommodate a wedding party. He offered us the Presidential suite (Room 8040) in return. What a magnificent suite! It has to be 2,500 sq. feet with a kitchen, a full dining room, a huge living room with a piano and three couches, and three balconies. The bedroom was enormous and the bathroom had a four person jacuzzi.  We had lunch and dinner brought in for everyone and there was plenty of room.  Note: We got the Sand Dollar rate of $135.00 and $140.00 per night with a $75.00 food credit per room per day. (There were upgrade fees for the suites.). We will definetly be back in 2018.
