Maintenance Fees

lpickle7 Silver
Currently Being Moderated

Once again, having a very difficult time trying to pay annual maintenance fees for our time-share in Phuket, Thailand. Happens every year. Have called Salt Lake, Phuket, etc and have received invalid email addresses, wrong phone numbers, etc. No one seems to want to resolve our problem and prefer to "pass the buck". Where is the customer service Marriott is supposed to provide to "Silver Elite " members? Any suggestions?

I spoke with Owner Services last week (800-845-4226) and thankfully did not encounter the confusion you are describing.  Marriott Vacation Club  enables payment of Maintenance Fees online at http://www.my-vacationclub.com

I find it convenient and very efficient.  However, according to Owner Service, Salt Lake City is unable to process maintenance fees for Phuket over the phone or online.  It's handled through Owner Services in Cork, Ireland who may be reached via an international toll free number from Canada or the US only: 011-800-8855-6677

    dear tjc new york

    my good translater

there i make a tour whis seller from the vocation club

the seller explaine to me now its finisch to  buy in phuket

a week, ou every where in the world

now you can buy only points  good  for all the world

platium week  33000 points more at 45000 us dollars

and  for each point  what you buy   you have fixed

maintenance fee. if i remember good  its wars for

the 33000 points  490 us dollars every year.

for me this is very expensive. you dont schure

if you get the week in phuket every year ,why?

you  have only points  what you byu in phuket

but not the week in phuket.

and if you not use your 33000 points for 1 week

you get only 99000 mr rewards points

i will  learn  from you when you know it better

ps.i make a mistake the maintenance fee

is not 490 us  but 917 us dollars every year

    Klaus,

Regrets for the late reply.  Unfortunately, information about the Marriott Vacation Club 'Points' program as implemented in the Asia Pacific Club has not been made available to owners who reside in the continental US.

From what I hear, the Asia Pacific Club features a points-based system that is independent of Marriott Rewards points.  Rather than vacation 'ownership', it appears to be marketed as vacation club 'membership' where you buy 'club points' that can be converted into nights at specific resorts in the Asia Pacific.

I have heard that new club members will not own deeded property.  But, existing MVC owners will be given the opportunity to convert to 'club points'.  How this will be implemented in the US should be interesting since timeshare is highly regulated like other forms of real estate.

In the meantime, see How Asia Pacific Points Work.

thank you for your answer.it is exactly how you

descrirbed.but the big difference you can get every year

the residence where you byu ou can make a exschange.

with the points you never know if you can cam to

phuket, there where you byu your points, and this is for me

not normal.second the points are only valid to 2056

and not of lifetime.third when you dont use your 33000

club points  you get multiple by 3  99000 marriott rewards

point.and this for a investisement of 45000us dollar

99000 mr points this is just 2 megabonus a 50000 each

never i will spend for this 45000us dollars for points

and your maintenane fee is calculated per points you byu

    Klaus and other MVCI owners

Heads up!  Thanks to Klaus' note, I had an in-depth conversation with Marriott Owner Services in Salt Lake City 1-800-845-4226 about How Asia Pacific Points Work and what impact future implementation of this program will have on current MVCI owners with deeded weeks in the United States.

Owner Services advises that unlike deeded vacation ownership, Marriott's Asia Pacific Club Points Program is vacation club membership.  IMO, it's like membership in an elite country club with membership fees and usage fees.  Owner Services also advises that the program targets individuals who reside in Asia and the Far East.  Apparently, the cultural mindset about the vacation experience is very different and focused on shorter stays.

Since there is very little collateral published online to reference, calling Marriott Vacation Club Owner Services with your questions about the impact this program will have on your vacation ownership is highly recommended.

I look forward to hearing what you find out.

Owner Services in Salt Lake City is unable to process payments for Phuket.  In fact, maintenance payments for Phuket cannot be made online either.  Regrets for prior misinformation.  The problem you are having has absolutely nothing to do with Elite level.  The contact phone number listed at my-vacationclub.com for Canada & USA is an international toll free number:

    011-800-8855-6677

Do note that the prefix 011 is required for international calls.

    Hope this helps.
