Do you carry your bags on or do you check your luggage? Are you a purist (always carry on or always check) or does it depend? If you always or typically carry on, what are your tips for those of us who check bags? How can we break the habit? (Should we?) So, join in!!! First, vote for the appropriate option. Then, tell us your story!!!!
For the curious, erc and IAHFLYR called me out on this issue. erc explained that: Soon, even astronauts will travel the erc-way, carry on only, no suits; topsiders, polos and a pair of dress khakis... But IAHFLYR didn't simply insult my manhood, he challenged the very essence of my travel persona!!!! [He said, among other things: I've traveled all over the place with my Travel Pro 22" and a backpack for my laptop, noise cancelling headphones for my wife, my ear buds, digital camera and even a leather flight jacket for winter ops all in those two tiny items and it lasts for a week. You must be in need of some travel packing tips... or something because I am completely stunned. This type of packing has worked for an eight day trip to Europe, week trip in the winter to South N.J., week in Hawaii ... You can do it, I promise.] Is he right? Let us know!!!
I know people who never (ever) check their bags. Heck, I used to be one of those people (in the late 1980's). But, personally, I got tired of it. And (selfishly, armed with an abundance of hubris) I do not downgrade my road warrior status to wimp (or something even more pathetic) because, among other things: (1) while I'm mostly paperless, I go nowhere without my (sleek and fast) Samsung laptop; (2) I enjoy traveling with excessive camera equipment (in my top-of-the-line, internal frame, Kata photo bag - Bumblebee-UL-222 | Kata Bags) and my (awesome, absolutely necessary) Bosenoise cancelling headphones - Epiphany: Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones; (3) most of my travel requires a suit and dress shoes, but I like to be prepared for outdoor/recreational opportunities; and (4) while I've done plenty of sink, shower, and tub laundry (and I travel with travel detergent just in case), I'd rather not do so.... Should I change my slovenly ways? Why? and how?!??!
