kharada46 told me I needed to go to the airport and take some pictures to satisfy the "aviation geek" side of things for himself and others, so on this somewhat cloudy misty rain day I decided to do just that!
After cutting the grass this morning and cleaning up the pollen that had taken over the driveway I headed off to Houston Intercontinental Airport, taking a road I drove for many years when I worked there.
The short 24 mile drive was void of any traffic and soon I found myself exiting the Toll Road for the airport.
This one is for you pluto77!
I headed for the parking garage at Terminal E, the newest Terminal at IAH and past my old stomping grounds where I was employed for a great number of years. Now we know why pluto77 calls me Texas Tower Boy!
I got to the parking garage just about the time a number of international airlines started to arrive.
As well as a few others flag carriers from the U.S.
We are very luck in Houston as we get quite a few chances to see the B788.
As well as the AN124, one of the worlds largest aircraft.
Of course the airport was landing east and using three runways for departure so the parking lot at Runway 9 wasn't too full of airplanes waiting to leave town.
And who says United doesn't have any management plans......not this place!
I certainly enjoyed going back to the place I spent some 29 years working from, but it wasn't the same since I had no headset and mic to tell pilots where to go.
The Houston Airport System above ground train is a good way to get from Terminal A to Terminal E.
And United has way too many gates on the south side of the terminals and more on the north side.
Just when you thought you'd seen the last of America West livery on an airplane, poof one lands on the far north runway, Runway 8L.
But I had to leave and go homeward, but you can find more of my days fun hereAviation! in a day or three!!!
Yes I am an aviation geek as well.
